Our Planning Commission acts as an advisory group to Borough Council on issues and policies related to zoning, land development, and subdivisions.
Some common issues brought before the Planning Commission include new construction, zoning variance requests, and subdivisions.
In these circumstances, before a Land Use or Building Permit can be issued, plans must be reviewed by the Planning Commission and approved by Borough Council. See Codes & Permits.
Curwensville Borough has initiated the preparation of an update to our Comprehensive Plan. All persons residing in, doing business in, or just interested in the future of Curwensville Borough are invited to participate in the planning process. The Plan will provide action-oriented strategies focused on top Community priorities. The Plan will also provide a working framework as we continually plan for changing conditions, evolving priorities and the future of Curwensville Borough.
The planning process will emphasize Community Engagement; Profiling Existing and Anticipated Conditions; Developing Action Strategies; Implementation; and Updates to the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance. It is vital to obtain and use input and guidance from residents, community organizations, business/industries, service providers and other segments of the community to prepare the Plan.
An open house Community Engagement meeting is being held to gather community input:
The open house meeting will be fun, informative and interactive. Representatives from the Borough Planning Commission and The EADS Group, the planning consultant assisting with the Plan update will be available at the meeting to talk with residents and to discuss the planning process, provide information, answer questions and to review expectations for the updated Plan. Multiple ways for attendees to provide input and guidance will be provided. Come prepared to discuss ways to improve Curwensville Borough!
